From June 9th through July 26th 2008, Sheheryar Banuri attended the Empirical Implications of Theoretical Models summer institute held at Washington University and sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the Weidenbaum Center. The institute covered a broad range of topics dealing with empirical testing of theory in political science and political economy. Starting with Bayesian statistical and game theoretic modeling, the institute introduced participants to Quantal Response Equilibrium, Ideal Point estimation, Experimental applications (instructed by Catherine Eckel and Rick Wilson), and implications in International Relations and Legislative Politics theory testing. The major thrust of the institute was to impart the tools and methods necessary to empirically test political theories using real world data and human subjects.
